FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (August 2, 2023) — Broomfitters, the country's leading curling equipment retailer, proudly announces its partnership as the title sponsor for the highly anticipated Windy City Curling 5&U Cashspiel event. This collaboration highlights Broomfitters' commitment to supporting the growth of curling and providing top-quality gear to curlers everywhere.
The Broomfitters 5&U Cashspiel, scheduled to take place from Sept. 28, 2023 to Oct. 1, 2023, promises to be an exceptional curling tournament. The event will welcome curlers with five years of experience and less, and embrace players of all genders, fostering inclusivity and camaraderie within the curling community.
"I'm thrilled Broomfitters is now the title sponsor for the Windy City Curling 5&U Cashspiel," said Than Tibbetts, owner of Broomfitters. "We exist to grow the sport of curling — whether it involves building the best curling shop in the world or elevating 5&U curling to a whole new level."
The bonspiel will offer a total prize pool of at least $7,000 giving curlers an ample opportunity to win cash prizes in the Championship Round. Additionally, the Chicago-based event serves as a qualifier for USA Curling's prestigious 2024 5 & Under Nationals, providing competitive curlers with a pathway to national recognition.
"The Broomfitters 5&U Cashspiel will host 28 teams and athletes from more than 32 curling clubs across the United States for this first of its kind event. The addition of prize money elevates competition and provides a much-needed incentive for teams who so often have very limited team budgets," said Matthew Ault, the bonspiel’s chair at Windy City Curling. "Broomfitters’ support will undoubtedly bolster grassroots efforts like ours to provide high-level competition for 5&U teams across the country.”
